Design Studio 1
This is an ice breaking design project that introduces the basic understanding of the design process and approaches in generating ideas, formulating conceptual narratives, developing design and translating it into form designs.
We have to unravel our creative side and inner self through several specific modes of communication or art form. We as designers will generate ideas from self-identity through personal interests, preferences, attitude and personality. These ideas and qualities will later on is applied to an artwork worn on specific parts of the body, mostly parts of the body that is use for creativity and making. Artwork is to be worn on head (thinking), hand (making) and face (showing & expressing).
To represent ourself, we must only be interpreted in abstracted form where in it requires rigorous design thinking and highest form of creative interpretation.
The best way to represent myself is the mask (thinking).

Project 2 : Self Expression through Architectural Space’ Furnitecture’
The main purpose of Project 2 is to expand the interpretation of the self (or multiple self) by exploring the relationships between human body and designed form. We will define the intention of the space and its form based on our personality and human body.
In a group of 6, we choose one of our members, Yi Hui as our user. We have to translate her personality and design intentions through designing ‘Furnitecture’ which the furniture that transforms to architecture using cardboard and cardboard fittings and assemblies to the scale of 1:1.

Project 3 : Dreamspace for the User ‘SPACE FOR THE SELF’
For the final project, we are required to design a space for ourself by attaching it to the
walls or surfaces of an imagined ‘city’ in an empty abandoned lot in between two buildings. The space
is to fit a specific use . As the user of the space, we can make our personality more interesting, an
effective well thought of theme and written narrative is essential.

Reflection
From these project, I understand myself through thinking different way. I realized that essence of design is through understanding of the concept and portraying them through design elements and principles. Besides, I learnt more about the relationship between space and activities of people.The communication between the group members is very important to produce a good work. It is essential for us to communicate and distribute tasks to group members of different talents so that we could put each person's potential into good use.Moreover, I learnt to incorporate narratives into designing a space. I learnt the techniques to convey my message to the audience clearly through drawings, sketches and process models. Most importantly, I learnt to justify my designs through different architectural terminologies and portray them in my final design.
